Questions parents ask

What is the difference between the nervous and hormonal systems?
The nervous system uses fast electrical signals along neurones — great for quick reactions. The hormonal system uses chemical messengers (hormones) carried in the blood — slower to act, but longer-lasting. Together they keep the body coordinated.
What is a reflex?
A reflex is a fast, automatic, protective response — like pulling your hand off something hot. It takes a short cut through the spinal cord (via a relay neurone) rather than waiting for the brain, which is what makes it so quick.
Is this suitable for KS3 and GCSE?
Yes. Coordination and control is a core biology topic for Years 9 to 11 (KS3 and GCSE), and this lesson and quiz work as a clear introduction.
